NBFPA New Executive Director Appointment
Mr. Jacques Cormier, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the New Brunswick
Forest Products Association has announced the appointment of Mr. Mike
Legere to the position of Executive Director effective May 5th, 2014. Mr. Legere had a
fifteen-year career as regional inspector and training coordinator with the Maritime
Lumber Bureau before moving to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation in
trade consulting and corporate representation roles. Most recently he was the
Association Manager for the Architectural Woodwork Manufacturers Association of
Canada – Atlantic region.
“I believe these are exciting times for the forestry sector in New Brunswick especially
given the promising indications of economic recovery in the U.S. and in particular with
the housing sector,” said Legere. “The future prosperity of New Brunswick is tied to a
sustainable and competitive forestry sector and the NBFPA will continue to engage with
all stakeholders to see this realized.”
Mr. Legere has served as a board member of various industry groups including
the Canadian Lumber Standards Accreditation Board and the Nova Scotia Home
Builders Association.
Mr. Legere holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Mount Allison University in
Sackville, N.B.
The New Brunswick Forest Products Association is a non-profit organization that
represents its forest industry members by serving as a common voice in relations with
the government and the public, promoting a healthy New Brunswick forest, raising
public awareness of sustainable forest management practices, and providing a forum
for the exchange of information, ideas, and concerns.
